50 TBR Challenge : March

Below, is the list of books I read in March(click each titles book to read my reviews). I only managed to read 3 books this month. But since January I have read totals of 12 books. I'm slowly getting to my reading, but it always nice to slowly devour and take my times with the books of my favorite instead of just rushing it :) But I honestly want to go back to those days when I was able to read a lot more books than this. I don't know what wrong with me, but I want my reading drive *grin* to come back hehehe.

P.S. My good friend Darla is the one who came up with this 50 Challenge Book ideas to the group that we both members of. Please click her name (above) to see her book review :)

Killer Secret by Lora Leigh

Lora Leigh's website
(Erotic Romance Suspense)
4 1/2 stars

Killer Secret is the 5th installment to the "Tempting SEALs" books. I know that two of the "Tempting SEALs" stories are found on two of her anthology books. But I never got copy of it yet. So I read mostly the books that are non - anthology. There are 3 of them. I notice there is 6th installment, but it in the anthology of "Rescue Me" which is releasing in July 2008. So far, there are "Tempting SEALs" book already published. I love Lora Leigh "Tempting SEALs" books. I really like this book, but had a hard time writing a review on it because I fear I couldn't write it without sounding stupid. So it took me while longer to post it. I'm sure it doesn't make half of sense now...but hopefully it understandable.

Ex-Navy SEALs Ian Richards, is illegitimate son of Diego Fuentes, who joined his father's drug cartel for reason no one know. He face danger at every turn that neither his father nor his fellow Navy SEALs knows which side he's fighting for or against. But that is exactly the way he wanted it to be. He was deemed as a traitor to his country by his men who he had fought with, protect as brother. But things become complicated when Kira Porter, an undercover agent for the Department of Homeland Security, get in his way and put her nose in his business. And no matter how much he tried to remember the fact that she is strong enough to protect herself, he couldn't help but feel he must be sure she is safe from Fuentes before his plan. But Kara think she can see beneath Ian agenda. But the truth is, he kept her guessing at every turn. And she brought Ian attention, an attraction that can not be ignore.

No matter what Kira intention are, between her job as undercover agent or her loves for Ian, she knew she will be on Ian side. And even though Ian think he hidden the truth from her, she know Ian more better than he think. They have known each other many years, to know one another are thinking.

With Ian's team getting in his way, thing going to get complicated. But times is running out and pretty soon the stake is high. Would he be able to finish the mission he planned or would things get more complicated.

You will met up with the previous characters again and see what been happen to them since their HEA. Also you will notice that Ian and Kira attraction started from previous book, "Hidden Agendas".

Killer Secret is a erotic romance suspense with great in depth writing. It had action and very explicit scenes that bring hot air through the pages. You can feel the love between the main characters as their attraction become deep. A very great read! Pick it up if you see it near you!

Tempting SEALs books

1. Reno's Chance ("Honk If You Love Real Men" - anthology)
2. Dangerous Game
3. For Maggie's Sake ("Real Men Do It Better" - anthology)
4. Hidden Agendas
5. Killer Secret
6. Macey's Story ("Rescue Me" - anthology)release in July 2008

Thursday Thirteen: Edition # 35

My Favorite things..start with "C's"

Cherry Coke - I was introduced to this drink when my niece Trish came down here to live with us (to attend college here). I remember thinking how weird it is that coke is now adding other flavors to blend in for different tastes. The sound of "Cherry" in the coke or the "Vanilla" coke didn't sound great to me. But one sip from
the can, and I was in love LOL! I don't know what it is about the Cherry Coke, but everywhere I go - I'm always looking for it from the soda machines or inside the grocery store in the mini cold fridges. I buy at lease one 2-liter bottle of Cherry Coke when I go grocery shopping now. Can't live without it. Sprite and Cherry coke are now my favorite drink...along among other drinks too *grin*.

cell phone - My life can not be without cell phone. I need it everywhere I go. To keep in contact and in touch with my family, mostly who are either living close by or living far away (even when at one point, I don't want to deal with some members hehe) And to also be available for a friends that need my help. I'm always there for them. I think it life saver for me. :)

Candies - Everyone love candies, right? My favorite are the Junior Mints, chocolate Raisin, Mike Ikes, Peppermint Barks..etc

Camera - I own a Kodak Camera. I can't live without it. I love to take pictures. I've been taken pictures of mostly my family and friends who are in my daily life. I would do scrapbooks on them, and hope to pass it to them someday. And then maybe they can pass it to the next generation to come :)

Cindy Gerard (author) - One of my favorite author. She write a series books about a group of bodyguard call "Bullet Catcher". A very interesting romantic suspense, and intense emotional relationship with action. Each members get their own story told and find love...or love find them :)

Catherine Mann (author) - Another favorite author. She write about group of military men called "Wingmen". If you like Suzanne Brockmann work, than you will like Catherine Mann too :) Lot of actions, intense, emotional and humors.

"Can't Buy Me Love" - A classic favorite movie I use to watched repeatedly when I was kid. I like that the story revolved around of wanting to belong. And be popular. But once you get it, it not great as you thought it'll be. I had crush on Patrick Dempsey, but who ever thought he'll grown up to be good looking..."Grey's Anatomy" TV show series prove that ;)

"Cold As Ice" - This is the 2nd installment to "ICE" series. The heroes in these series are usually alpha dark, bad boy. But they are not always what people seem to think they are to be. I love these series!

Cards - I love to get greeting cards. It always nice to received them from people who mean something special to me. I've been collection cards that I got from friends over the years during holidays. Once I collected them, they are tied in ribbon together to reminded myself how lucky I am to have them in my life. But sometime I use the cards and cut the art pictures on the front of the card and turn it into bookmarks or tags. Very fun!

"Chesapeake Bay" Sega - Nora Roberts wrote these Sega. It about three adopted brother coming home to take care of young Seth, after their adopted father died. They couldn't help but notice that Seth looked so much like their adopted father. And start to wonder if he is their father biological son. each brothers get their own story and than the 4th installment is Seth story.

Creating Keepsakes Magazine - Some of you know am Scrapbook addicted. I've subscription for this magazine. It help me to get some ideas for layout, journals, picture and accessory. Have been with them for....4yrs running :)

Coffee - I drink them in morning but only 1 mug. It my friend in the morning when I need some kick and wake up. Sometime I go Starbucks and get me some of those mocha drink...yummy

Cheese Burgers - Yep I said it. Either get it at McDonald, Ruby Tuesday, TGI Friday or Apple Bee. But I love the pasta done at Ruby Tuesday and Apple Bee...Yum!

Cover - Up

Booking Through Thursday

This week’s question comes from Julie, who asks:

While acknowledging that we can’t judge books by their covers, how much does the design of a book affect your reading enjoyment? Hardcover vs. softcover? Trade paperback vs. mass market paperback? Font? Illustrations? Etc.?

Honestly, most of the books does not a affect my reading enjoyment. However, most books that I own are auto buy authors. So I normally don't worry about the covers and I buy books. I admit that most hardcover have a interesting and beautiful covers (example: Outlander series cover, Nora Roberts stand alone covers..etc.)so I'm more attracted to books cover that show eye catching, strong and bold details. Some paperbacks have some pretty cover too, like Lora Leigh's Killer Secrets for example.

I don't pay attention to design, front or illustrations unless it part of series that had them done exactly alike. Anne Stuart's ICE books for example have some likeness covers together. I just dislike it, when the themes design are matched similar in cover and than suddenly changed for something different. I may not like it for awhile, but may like it later.

Saying all this, usually I don't let the design, illustration of front bother me. I just usually auto buy my books from favorite authors most of the times.

How about you?

My Easter Weekend

First, Happy Belated Easter Everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much for the last few days. Since before "Good Friday", I had to attend mass and than when I get home I'll be so tired that I don't feel like blogging. So I went to bed early. Than on Saturday, we had guests coming over to visit. I was up on my feet helping mom with the cooking for the guests. And even though I had fun the whole night, I was tired too. Sunday we attend our regular mass day. And because it was Easter it took longer than the normal time we get out. And than as soon as it over, we head out of town to visit my aunt's family for some crawfish boiled Easter brunch. I met up with some cousins I have not seen for long times. It amaze me how much they growth and be as tall as my grandfather was. Seeing them again reminded me of those days when we used to play together when we were kids. Unfortunately, the oldest cousins who I always play together with was not there. Especially the one cousin who I was the closest with the most. Her husband end up in the hospital with high blood pressure and heart attack. I think he'll be fine. The other three oldest girls all moved far away from here, either having babies or just got married. I wish to see them again....anyway, we went to a Vietnamese Easter festival fair after we ate. It a place were we all go to watch live famous/popular Asian singers getting up on stage to perform and sing. There were even some foods and drink served for us. It was lot of fun! But we only stay for an hour or two before we head home late that night. First thing I do, when I got home, was to check my emails to make sure that I clear everything in my inbox and get contact with people who needed my attention on important stuff. Than I pass out to sleep. I must have really been tired because I woke up late the next morning. But it was a fun Easter weekend!

So with the few days being busy, I didn't have times to read much or watch TV either. But I hope to catch up on everything by the end of this week. And I will blog again. But I hope you visit me again. Did everyone had a good Easter weekend? I wish everyone good day!

Thursday Thirteen:Edition # 34

My Favorite things..start with "B's"

I decided to do something a little different but fun for my TTs. I have seen this done all over the blogger land and think that while it may be a little hard to come up with something, it also nice way to get to know about me. And it would help for me to keep up with my TTs and not always skip some week when I can't think of an ideas. So, for my TTs each weeks I'm going to list all my 13 favorite things that start with each alphabets. Last week I start with letter click here "A's". Today I start with the letter "B's".

1. Books - I have always been a reader since I was kid. One of my first favorite book was Harnold the Purple Crayon. I still remember reading it and dream of going on a fun adventures. From there I grown up to Babysitting Club/Sweet Valley High to Anne of the Green Gable and than Judith McNaught. And than now different genres of grown up books ;)

2. Bookmarks - I love them in all shape and form. Thongs, metal clips, with quotes saying, eliminated photos...etc. I get so many booksmarks from Bookmark Exchange that my reading group are doing. It lot of fun. I also hand-made scrap bookmarks and have given them out as gift to friends (Melody, did you get your yet?) which I have share with everyone at my blog 4 months ago.

3. "Blue Ice" - One of my favorite book by Anne Stuart. "Ice Blue" is part of an ICE series and it had very dark heroes. They're alpha and remain so even when they have their HEA. I love this type of heroes and love Anne Stuart writing. I think you should read her, it good :)

4. Bald men (actors) - And I mean a big strong, sexy alpha men. I don't know what about it that I like but seeing bald men in movie (Jason Statham, Bruce Willis..etc) just make me drool :) But most of them are strong, built, muscular alpha and good looking.

Bad Boy type - Characters from books, of course *grin*. They are tough, rough and had some attitudes. Even sense of humors. I like that some bad boy let people think that they are bad, when in truth they are not always what they seem to be. They may have some in them but they also really good to their women or people close to them.

5. Berries - My favorite one thought are strawberries, which I found out most recent that am sorta allergic to it. I use to buy strawberries all the times. I also like the blueberries as well.

6. Blogging - Yeah, I like to blog. One of the place where I go to see what books everyone is reading. I originally started this blog, because I want to find a place for backup to keep record of the books I've read over the years for my "50 Challenge Books". But than I made friends in Blog world, along the way. I'm so glad to still be here today :) Thanks for many supports you guys given to me through year.

7. "Beauty and the Beast" - One of my favorite Disney animation movie. I think it one of the most beautiful love movie I ever seen. I love the plot line, the pictures, the musicals and the characters. I also love that two people fallen in love despite how one look, it what inside their heart and who they are that should count. I also love the bitter sweetness of finding you can change and learning you were wrong. And I love the fact that Belle is a reader. Her library is just the way I imagine mine to be (part of it), someday :)

8. "Bones" - a TV drama series show. This was based and inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. The characters are not all from the book (they changed characters) but I admit these characters from TV are really interesting people who clashed together well, like family. I love the sense of humors of Temperance Brennan and the gang. They reminded me of Eve Dallas and the gang from the In Death series by JDRobb. Read both series, they are good!

9. Barks - The peppermint barks that is made with white chocolate and mixed in with crushed peppermint or Spearmint candies (I prefer the peppermint). You can also mixed in chocolate for the bottom layers. I made some Peppermint Barks as gifts for friends during Christmas. They seem to enjoy it. You can also buy them at local grocery store, like Walmart or Target. They sell them in large square tin can.

10. Book A Million - One of the brick bookstore that is local to my home. I go here when I can't what I'm looking for at Barnes and Noble (normally this is not the case) and love to buy books here if they had some good sales :)

11. Beaches - I love to go there and just relax on a beach chair on the sand, near the water ocean under the hot sun with a tropical drink and a book in hand. Ahhh..this sound good. My family and I Used to go Florida lot, now with us all grown up and being busy, we hardly go anymore *pout*

12. Brownies - Love them all, but I normally baked them with pecan in them, my favorite. I also used walnuts or M&M. I'm starting to learn to bake, so if you hear me burning the bottom of the baking goodies....than run LOL !

13. "Breaking Point" - Suzanne Brockmann's 9th books of Troubleshooter series. This is Max Bhagat and Gina Vitagliano story. I think also their HEA. Love all the books in the series but Max and Gina is one of my favorite couple. Could you tell I love Suzanne Brockmann's books?! :)

That included Kate. Too bad Jake is opposite of the man of her dream. Or she would have pick him.

Manhunting is a delightful, fun and humors romp novel that bring sexual intense to the pages. Two people finding love and discover about themselves and their issues. Fast easy pace reading and characters are wonderful. You laugh at couple different pages in the book, as you watch Kate handle the suitor coming on to her, herself. It hilarious. One thing Jenny does great with is humors, snappy dialogue and writing series issues tones (communication..etc).

I have read Jennifer Crusie recent books but is trying to collect her earliest books. Manhunting happen to be her earliest book published in 1993, which is also her first novel she wrote. I own the re-issue copy. I enjoy the book, and looking forward to reading more Jenny's books :)

My Favorite things..start with "A's"

I decided to do something a little different but fun for my TTs. I have seen this done all over the blogger land and think that while it may be a little hard to come up with something, it also nice way to get to know about me. And it would help for me to keep up with my TTs and not always skip some week when I can't think of an ideas. So, for my TTs each weeks I'm going to list all my 13 favorite things that start with each alphabets. Today I start with the letter "A's".

1. Apple Chip - This is made from Seneca company. It is baked but very crispy and crunchy. I love that it came in different flavors: Cinnamon Apple, Caramel, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith. Here the link to see it directly Seneca Apple Chips website

2. "All Through the Night" - a book written by Suzanne Brockmann. It became my favorite at the moment (of course it will change when Suz have the next latest out). It story of love between two men, one of the popular favorite character FBI agent Jules Cassidy and Hollywood heartthrob Robin Chadwick. I have love Jules, and think of him as a bestfriend who I can always count on and turn to when need to talk about problem. I was happy he finally got his HEA. Also in this book, we see all the previous characters again, even our favorite. I love to see what going on with everyone all at once.

3. "Alice in the Wonderland" - One of my childhood favorite Disney movie of all times. I love how she had a dream that she fall into the hole and find herself in another world (the Madcap world of Wonderland) where she never imagine existed. And she meets extraordinary characters too! I use to dream like this when I was kid too. I love everything about the movie.

4. Anne Stuart - One of my favorite authors who wrote the ICE series. It is must buy if you into very DARK, bad boy and strong heroes in romantic suspense genres. The book is exciting thrilling and very hot!

5. Alicia - Who is one of my childhood best friend. I knew her when I was 5yrs old and she was 1yrs old. I actually met her sister first who was 3yrs old. But since than both have became my bestest friend. We have been through too many stuff together, in good and bad times. Through kids and family. I love them like they are my sisters. And they will remain my friend forever. And right now Alicia is going through personal pregnancy problem. Cross your fingers they baby will make it through the pregnancy stages and be healthy when it time to for it to meet the world :)

6. American Eagle - I love to shop at this store. I brought some clothes here, not just for me but mostly for my niece Trish. It her favorite store too.

7. Alias - I realized that this show is now off the air. But I love the show because of kick ass lead character Sydney. Plus a romance between Sydney and Michael is hot on the screen to watch. So many good moment scenes with them.

8. Alpha male characters - I love these type of heroes in my books. They are usually the strong, brave, bad boy, sexy and DARK type. And they are not always not what they seem to be as people (characters from books) made them out to be.

9. AppleBee - One of the favorite restaurant my family and I go to. The burgers, chicken and pasta are my most favorite menu. Here is the AppleBee website (click on it)

10. Amazon - I shop at this bookstore to get books online. Sometime the price can be expensive but if I have a gift cards (which I always use) than I'm in luck to buy many books *grin*. But sometime it more cheaper than the other bookstores online, if it not on sales or price off :)

11. American Idols - Yes this is crazy but I like watching reality show that have anything to do with musics/dance/singing. I have watch this show since the beginning of the first season and still watch it today. The show is now on it 7th season. So far I like Ramiele, Michale John and David Arculeta (the young 16yrs old).

12. Angela - another friend who is really sweet and generous person. She hand-made knit these wonderful socks and scarf for me as gifts during the Christmas holidays. Both turn out great and I love them. I worn them plenty time already and hope to get more knitting gifts from her again, someday *grin*.

13. Annie of the Green Gable - Another of my favorite book. I read this when I was in middle school. I had to do a book report on it and made an A! But I grow to love Annie and her friends that I continue to read the rest of the series in the books. I was really excited when I learn that it was made into TV movie. And it was great too. I should go buy myself a copy of the series books. :)

You should have seen this one coming … Who is your favorite Male lead character? And why?

I can honestly tell you whole list of male lead characters that are my favorite. But than I weren't want to make your butt fall asleep *grin*. It hard to list them all, but I have broken it down to some of the most favorite male characters (in no particular order). These male are the most strong, brave, sexy, bad boy, dark alpha men with some humors thrown in. And maybe a little tall dark and handsome or tortured male. And some are not what they all seem to be as people (from the books) made them to be. This is my favorite type of men in books. - Jamie Fraser (Outlander series)
- Bastien Toussaint (ICE series)
- Matthew Farrell ("Paradise")
- Joe Winston ("Say No to Joe")

Any male characters from Linda Howard books, any male characters from Christine Feehan's GhostWalker series, Male from Shannon Mckenna's McCloud Brother series...etc. There lot more, but I'm blanking on them at the moment. Hopefully I will remember more when I visit your blog! :)

No Regret by Shannon K Shannon

Shannon K Butcher's website
Romantic Suspense
5 stars

Shannon K. Butcher is wife of Jim Butcher. When I discover this, after friends had recommend her to me, I wasn't anxious to read No Regret right away. Since I have try Jim Butcher and find it not my cup of teas (although I tell myself I will go back and re-read his first book of Dresden file, in later times. After all, it's my moods sometime that cause me to not enjoy the books and I always give authors a second chance or maybe a third chance. The third time is a charms, right? *G*), I just figure I will read Shannon's book in later time too. But than two friends had read No Regret and "scolded" me to hurry and read it. So I did. And I want to THANKS them so much for their "Scolding" me *G*...I love the book!

Noelle Blanche, a smart and brilliant renowned cryptologist, refuse to help the military in a covert operation which she don't want to use for violence. And what worse, she is told to either accept a military grant or lose her job that she loved so much. But when a gunmen raid her home and she is threaten to be kill if she don't lead them to the weapons they wanted, Noelle knew it'll be her own hand if innocence get murdered. With help from ex Delta Force operative David Wolfe, she knew that she would be safe as long as she run for her life with him.

Ex Delta Force operative David Wolfe thought he had left the horrible past behind, but when he discover that one of the Swarm have arise and that there a mole in the CIA -- he knew he must protect the woman they had set their sights on and then kill the last alive terrorist organization called the Swarm before they could get to her. Because the Swarm had savagely murdered his wife, he want to prevent history from repeating itself. This time, he will kill them all, even if it mean it would cost his heart.

Along the way, their attraction for each other grew strong and together they fight for their life as well as trying to keep the Swarm away from getting to the deadly weapon.

No Regret is romantic suspense filled with action packed, adventure and great hot romance. It is intelligent written book with smart strong heroine. Just enough romance to make your heart melt and hot sexual intense attraction between characters. Page turner, interesting and refreshing. It keep me reading until the very end. I love the fact that not only is the hero is smart, but the heroine is strong, very smart and not TSTL kind. Shannon have written her to be more believable and interesting character. Something we don't see too often in heroine characters.

Shannon K Butcher is new voice of romantic suspense, one I going to keep a watch for in her next book(s)! I dare you to pick No Regret up! You won't regret it! It a must read :)

50 TBR Challenge : Jan / Feb

In one of my Yahoo reading group, members participates in a challenge call 50 Challenge Books. Our goal was to see if we can read and reach 50 books by the end of the year. So at the end of each months we post a list of books that we have read. We wrote down the titles of the book, the authors name, a tidbit (or reviews) about each books and grade them. It is challenge to our self to see how many books can we read by the end of the year. Some get pass the 50 books and then proceed to continue to read until they reach 100 or just see what numbers they land on. It is lot of fun, cause it help members to find "new to me authors" and learn who have common taste in books that you do. Or just talk about your favorite authors and books. I think we been doing this for 4yrs running now (maybe longer than that? Darla do tell)

Below, is the list of books I read in January and February (click each titles book to read my reviews). Because I forgot to post my January, I'm posting it along with the February books. P.S. My good friend Darla (please click name to see her blog) is the list owner of that group and she is participating in 50 Challenge Books as well. I think the idea came from her. Please visit her blog and see her book reviews. :)
