Decorum

Booking Through Thursday

Do you have “issues” with too much profanity or overly explicit (ahem) “romantic” scenes in books? Or do you take them in stride? Have issues like these ever caused you to close a book? Or do you go looking for more exactly like them? (grin)

- I never have no issues with both. I guess I read lot of it that it doesn't bother me at all. Of course it would make sense for characters to use profanity when it fit the characters (bad past background, military, cop, their moods..etc). I'm so use to it. As a romance, overly explicit scenes have it limits for me, sometime. I don't mind reading them at all and it doesn't bother me. I have read plenty of them. But sometime the explicit scenes take up most of the whole book and not enough plot. And I always need both. :)

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

I totally agree with you about this, Julia! If there's no plot behind the story, then there's no point in reading it.

Happy BTT!

For me it's like any other part of a book---it needs to be appropriate to the plot, characters, situation, etc. Which includes being in proper proportion, like anything else.

happy birthday!

Wow! BTT on your birthday! Looks like a great day for you :D Happy birthday!

I agree. It's always the plot that draws me to a book. If it's got those "extra" scenes, well written ones to boot, I'm not complaining! :D

Oh yeah... gotta have the plot FIRST!

Happy BTT.

Plot, plot, plot! No plot, no talk! Yep, that's me too.

Happy Birthday & Happy BTT, Julia!

Only erotica and no sustances puts me off too. I prefer stories to go with it.

Hey! Happy Birthday!!! ^_^

I also agree with your BTT answer. I read because I want a good story. If there's a good, explicit scene there, then it's okay, so long as it's a good story.

I agree... language and "scenes" need to be part of the storyline! I can overlook them (uncomfortable or not)if they make sense with what I'm reading. Diane
