Holidays

Booking Through Thursday

It’s a holiday weekend here in the U.S., so let’s keep today’s question simpleWhat are you reading? Anything special? Any particularly juicy summer reading?

- Before I answer to the question, first I want to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July weekend! I hope everyone have wonderful time spent with your family and friends. I really don't know what my family and I are doing for the weekend. We were invited by my uncle to come down for some BBQing grill. But then a friend of mine invited me to go to Mississippi River to see the BIG firework show, display for public to watch. She is bringing her kids and nephew with her. It been a very long while since I last gone to Mississippi River to see firework. My last memory of being there was when we drove through the bridge and saw the firework shooting up in the air right in front of us. It was the closest we can get to being near it, while we were trying to find a spot to park our car where it was actually happening. So it was either spent the time with my family at my uncle house or go to Mississippi River to see the BIG firework with my friend.

Now to answer the BTT question for this week --- I'm currently reading two books:

1) Beyond Fearless by Rebecca York
2) A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon

I normally read one book at a time, but my reason I'm reading two books is because Diana Gabaldon book was thick and I figure to wait until the summer to read it. This way I can spent more time reading it, since it usually take me 2 weeks to finish it. So summer is now here and it time to read it. And so far I'm loving it.

And I normally don't read book to match the holidays, unless I'm in the mood for it. I just read whatever books the mood take me to. And treat it like an everyday reading *grin* --- beside most holidays am always busy celebrating with my families and friends with less reading done :)

What about you -- What your weekend plan? And what are you reading?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

I prefer reading one at a time, too. My weekend is going to be wonderfully usual for the 4th--hamburgers and fireworks.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

We are at camp this weekend on the coast of Maine. My mother-in-law is coming down on Saturday and my daughter and her husband and my granddaugter will be arriving on Sunday so I should be busy.

There won't be much time for reading but maybe at night when I go to bed if I'm not too pooped.

Have a lovely summer. We're going to rent an RV and visit some national parks.

A breath of snow and ashes is epic isn't it? I could barely hold it up!

Thanks for visiting and yes I'll be reviewing the Book Thief as soon as I am back in the US, so pop back next week :)

Hope you have a good time watching fireworks. Me and hubby are spending the weekend in Philadelphia. I actually live about 30 min away but it will be a nice break from parental units.

Hope you enjoy A Breath of Snow and Ashes. I flew through it a few years ago. I wish DG could write faster!

Ooh, sounds like a hard choice to make for tonight. We're sleeping out at the Science Center again -- third year in a row. Front row for the fireworks, our own private laser and OmniMAX shows, and no traffic!

As for books... well, you saw what I'm reading. Stay tuned for when I finish Dancing with Werewolves. It's fab.

You read my post, so you know what I'm reading, even if you didn't recognize the titles! I have also just recently embroiled myself in the Outlander series, so I'll be looking forward to your review!

Happy 4th July weekend to you, Julia and all in the US!

I've heard of Diana Gabaldon but so far haven't read any of them. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you've finished it. :)

Smilingsal - hamburgers and fireworks sound good! Was your weekend as you expected it to be - fun?

Linda Jacobs - Sound like you going to be busy but having fun at camp. Did you managed to read anything at night when you head to bed?

Alix - Taking the RV on a trip to national parks, sound fun. I never drove in RV before but I bet it just fun! Yes, A Breath of Snow and Ashes is epic, but it worth it all :) Looking forward to your review on The Thief, soon!

Melody - I love looking at Firework too. I hope your weekend was as much fun as mine was :)

Seren - I take my books where ever I go too....you never know where you end up and needing to read. And yes, I remember you :)

Confuzzled Books - I hope your break in Philadelphia was a nice weekend fun for you and husband. How did it go?

Chris - I wish DG would write faster too! To wait for almost---what 4 years? --- to finish her book seem awful long time. But she is such a great story teller. And who doesn't love Jamie *raise hand* I know I LOVE him ;) So far, enjoying ABOSAA -- cross fingers I be done in two weeks

Susan - Was sleeping out at the Science Center any trouble for you? Sitting in the front to see firework is wonderful! Everything in beautiful sight. I hope you had fab times! Looking forward to hear your thought on Dancing With the Werewolves. AND more about Trevor hehehe

Meghan - You reading the Outlander series? Did you like it? If so, which your favorite books?

Alice - well if you like a long deep detailed writing, war and good characters/family then you like the book. I'm just worry that you be afraid of the thick books LOL !

Thanks everyone for stopping by. I hope you visit me again. Happy 4th to everyone who celebrate it. I hope you had lot of fun!

Hi, Thanx for stopping by my blog. I usually read one book at a time. I used to read several but lately just one. We grilled steaks for the fourth and then watched the fireworks. We can see them from our house. It was a great day for us but Charli hopes we never see another fourth. She was very scared when the fireworks went off.

I haven't managed to dig into the Diana Gabaldon books as of yet, but I'm thinking this may be the summer to do them. Right now I'm finishing off a big stack of memoirs with Susanna Barlow's What Peace There May Be. It's a really emotional page turner about her years growing up in a polygamous community. I'm really enjoying her writing style and learning a lot from her story.
