Storage
Booking Through Thursday
This week’s question is suggested by Kat:
I recently got new bookshelves for my room, and I’m just loving them. Spent the afternoon putting up my books and sharing it on my blog . One of my friends asked a question and I thought it would be a great BTT question. So from Tina & myself, we’d like to know “How do you arrange your books on your shelves? Is it by author, by genre, or you just put it where it falls on?”
I arrange my books by putting my favorite authors starting on the top space first and then to bottom. And then place their books in the order it was published starting from left to the right. Since I read lot of series and trilogy books, I have them together in the order it was published as well. I have some books that didn't have room to put it in next to the other, so I stacked and had them laying down on the right side (with the bind facing toward me)
And that remind me, I need to go buy more new bookshelf since I'm buying more books and there not room to put them in with the other bookshelves that I do have. It going to overflow soon :)

I guess you're more organized than me, hehe... (Glad to see you've posted this instead of tomorrow your time!) ;P
I like your method. It sounds as if you know what you want.
Organising in order of publication is a great idea.
That's a great way to organize book. Sadly, I never seem to have enough books by the same author. I have to build my collection.
Go buy more bookshelves, Julia! LOL
Yes, more shelves is always a good solution! :-) I think they furnish a room nicely.
I like to keep series and trilogies together too. I read alot of those and I hate when I can't find one book from the series that I absolutely have to read now! LOL
My problem is that I can't maintain any organizational system.
Hi Julia! Yep, you can never get enough shelves! :D
Here's mine. Happy BTT!
I like your method, by order of publication. Why didn't I think of that. :) My post is up now.
You sound ver orgainised not like me, http://zetor-mogsblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/booking-through-thursday_19.html
Wow, that is great, you are very organized, not me though my book shelf is a sad mess :)
Good luck in finding a bookcase for your new books! :)
Ideally, I have my books in alphabetical order by author, and then chronologically by series within each author. But it gets to be a chore to check the chronological order every time I move, so right now they're just alphabetical by author... at least the paperbacks are. The hardcovers are all over the place because I don't have enough room for them. *sigh*
The TBR pile, though, is now in alphabetical order by author. Yay! (hopefully) no more doubles!
I shelf my books by author's last name in alphabetical order. For fiction and literature, I single out the ones to be re-read and put them on a different case.
First I want to apology for taken too long to response back. I've been so busy that I try as best as I can to come over here and check my blogs. But I thanks everyone for commenting :)
Well I can be unorganzied if am not careful with books buying. Once the books are on its shelf, its never taken out of it unless I'm doing re-read. And with the hardcover flap, I always take it out of the book and replace it in the spot where the book was from. This way, I know where the book goes once I finish with it :) Your welcome about posting it here :)
Smilingsal - thanks, and it easier for me to know which books to read first, which to read second and so on :)
Jo - Thanks, and I thought so too :)
Nicole - Oh goodness, I started collection books by my favorite authors the minute I knew I will be reading more of their books *grin*....I hope that you able to start collection your books too :)
Alice - I will. I'm waiting until I save enough money to do it. But it'll be pretty soon though. And I will let you know if I ever get to it :)
Janet - I agree, they do furnished the room perfectly. The more bookshelves the more better :)
Yvonne - Exactly! That why my series and trilogies are in order. I hate not able to find it when I'm ready to re-read them again. Yes I do re-read my books *grin*. I love series and trilogies books. Even a longer books that is writing in depth are great :)
Beth - Just take your time to do it when you're ready or in the mood. Get someone to help you?
Kat - HEY! Finally you here *grin*. You right, we can never get enough bookshelves. My family already saying I have too many books...*roll eyes*...what do they know..geeish! ;)
Robin - Thanks, I'm glad that it gave you an idea. And I hope in due times you'll be able to do it too :)
zetor - Well yes my bookshelves are organized but it not as much as organized then other people I know are. They are more better than me :)
The Social Frog - Thanks for compliment! I'm sure your isn't that bad. Eventually you'll be able to make the shelves looking shiny and brand new :)
Claire - Thanks! I hope to find the perfect one soon :)
Darla - I didn't do mine in authors orders. Instead I just put them in orders of my favorite authors and than by publication :) I can understand about being unorganized because you moved a lot - and not wanted to start all over again with putting them in chronological orders.I hope that when your busy life slow down a bit, you be able to chronological orders the books again :)
Matt - Great idea of organizing your books in bookshelves :)
Thanks everyone for stopping by and take the times to comments. I wish everyone to have a good weeks!
