A Heartbeat is all it takes...

With that brief, terrifying phone call, Lisa Langley's nightmare began again. Four years ago she was the sole survivor of the Grave Digger, a madman who buried his victims alive. Now a copycat killer is on the loose and she's the only chance Special Agent Brad Booker has of stopping this twisted psycho before more women-including Lisa- die.

Hard-edged and always in control, Booker has never forgiven himself for failing to save Lisa from falling victim to the first Grave Digger. Whatever it takes, this time he's not going to let her down. Because almost losing Lisa is not something he can live through twice....

Let me mention first, that this is my first book read by Rita Herron. She was a "new to me author", when a friend Billie Jo recommended me In A Heartbeat. I'm so glad I read it, because I was so caught up in the story and wanting to know what happen next until I finish the book. Thanks to Billie Jo, who is moderator for Sandy Blair group (A wonderful and sweet author who wrote a great Highlander series historical books by the way), for recommendation!

At first I was wondering how Brad could fallen for Lisa so quickly when she was the victim of Grave Digger and was safe from being dead. It didn't show their relationship or the chemistry between them until 4 years later. But readers learn that their feeling for each other happen already before she left 4 years ago. It like there were a missing scenes at the beginning, that we never seen. But once I keep on reading a few chapters and saw them together, I can really see the emotional feeling that was left between them. Both Lisa and Brad were two torture soul with deep emotional scar, who long to be love and be accepted. They've gone through too much in the past and want to move forward without any guilt and being afraid. But watching them fall in love with each other, were interesting. Even though at some point they seem to have low self esteem when it come to each other.

The suspense and action were non stop. You get right to the story from the first chapters. It keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages. You get in the POV from each characters and see what their agenda are through the book while you try to figure out the twisted psycho "whodunit". And there is a good twist to the story.

In A Heartbeat was an romance suspense with plenty of action. A chilling, graphic scenes and details thoughts of victims and it's a turning pages. A sensual romantic between the hero and heroine, made you want to root for them. A very well thought out writing and deep, thrilling plot with great characters.

Love it! I definitely will be reading more of Rita Herron's romance suspense books!
